Pushing The Birds From The Nest...

Today I was an observer for the team's weekly Sunday School performance. I was supposed to be in NY with my husband, but decided to stay home. The team was going to be on their own if I wasn't there. So I watched from the doorway like a mama bird getting ready to push her babies from the nest. Janelle was in charge of the team and Lydia was the Emcee. The skit with Whiskers the mouse started out good, until Lydia asked the children a question. They never stopped talking...the skit went on and no one listened. Miss Tina came up front and made the children apologize to Whiskers for talking and not listening. So....the show went on....another song then a skit with Pockets the kangaroo. I refrained myself from jumping into the room to save the day. The skit went off without a hitch! One more song and the kids were dismissed to class. Now the team's knows it's not easy to do what I do every week. I instructed all of them to not be afraid to take control and tell the children to be quiet. Since I am not going to be in town for two months this summer, the team must learn to perform without me. In the end they all did really well today! AWESOME!!

Volunteer Appreciation Night...

Hands of God Puppet Theater was invited to perform two songs at the first annual "Fruitie Awards" for volunteers of childrens and youth ministries on Wednesday evening, May 6. The team opened the evening with "Sunday School Rock". This song is a parody of Elton John's hit song "Crocodile Rock". This was the debut of eight little baby puppets that helped rock the house! The song was filled with props and lots of enthusiasm. The second song, that closed the program for the evening, was a parody of Steeler Wheel's, "Stuck In The Middle With You". The parody, titled "Stuck In The Nursery With You" featured our baby puppets again. The song was also filled with lots of props and excitment! The audience reaction was priceless for both songs!

This performance was the first time our Pastor, Shelton Sanford, got to see the team in action. It seems Pastor Shelton isn't the only one that hadn't seen the team perform...some people didn't even know the church HAD a puppet ministry. Well...after this evening they now know that this ministry exists AND knows how to rock for God! See videos of each performance on our video page.
