Do you want to join Hands of God Puppet Theater and spread the Gospel through puppetry?
You need to meet the following standards:
- DEPENDABLE…You must be able to come to practice and learn assigned parts. You must be in grade 9 or higher to serve as a puppeteer, grades 6 -8 may serve as propateers and you should have a willing heart to serve the Lord.
- ENTHUSIASTIC…You must be ready for anything and ready with a smile.
- TEACHABLE…You must be willing to learn puppetry techniques, puppet construction, prop construction and puppet choreography. Most of all you must be willing to LISTEN!
- WILLING TO WORK HARD…You will be expected to give 100% during practices and performances. You are expected to learn the set-up and breakdown of the stage and how to handle the puppets and props.
- GETTING ALONG WITH OTHERS…Behind the stage, in front of the stage or at anytime you MUST get along with fellow puppeteers. You are in cramped quarters most of the time and need to be able to cope with having someone’s elbow up your nose or foot in your ear.
- GOOD HYGEINE…Being a puppeteer means having your arm in the air for up to three minutes at a time for almost an hour. Being behind the stage with all the hot lights, curtains and fellow puppeteers…it can get mighty warm. This is where deodorant is a necessity. We are not being cruel. If you are puppeteering, your nose is usually right in the person’s armpit you are next to. It is hard to concentrate when you realize breathing fresh air has become…let’s say…difficult! Grandma always said, “Cleanliness is next to Godliness”. Well…you get the idea.
- DRESS CODE…When you become a part of Hands Of God Puppet Theater you will receive a team shirt that must be worn at every performance. There are no torn jeans, bell-bottom jeans, hip-hugger jeans or badly wrinkled jeans or shirts allowed to be worn. We are witnesses for Jesus and must project a professional image.
- RESPECT…You must show respect at all times for the director, co-director, associate director, stage manager, sound manager, parents, pastors and all of your fellow puppeteers.
- TALENTS…If you sing, dance or like to tell jokes…you may have the chance to train to perform in front of the curtain. If you like to write…we are always looking for scripts for puppets. Organizational skills are always recognized…team leaders are trained within the team and advanced.
- CHURCH...You must regularly attend Westminster Presbyterian Church to become a member of Hands of God Puppet Theater.
